Fifth Regiment, Army of Northern Virginia

About the

5th Regiment Volunteer Infantry

The 5th Regiment is commanded by its own elected Colonel and his appointed staff.  The companies, acting through their company commanders, vote at the annual regimental meeting in October to elect the colonel for a two-year assignment.  The Regiment Staff is appointed by the elected colonel from the officers and non-commission officers from the various companies in the regiment.

The regiment is dedicated to preserving the historic deeds and legacy of the brave, ill equipped Confederate Army so that future generations can understand their heritage and the Southern Cause for which they fought.  The regiment aids its membership, and the public at large, in gaining a more thorough understanding of our Southern Heritage and the life and times of the soldier, the men & women civilians, who served the Confederacy during the War Between The States.

The regiment is dedicated to protecting our Southern Heritage, remembering our forefathers, and honoring the tenacity with which the brave Southern soldiers fought, endured terrible hardship and accepted defeat with honor; all for the "CAUSE."   The regiment also proudly galvanize, when required, as part of the ANV's Federal Unit known as "Clarks Battalion."  The regiment as a whole and its individual companies promote, encourage and participate in the celebration of patriotic anniversaries of both the United States of America and the Confederate States of America through out the greater eastern seaboard.

The regiment strives continuously to upgrade the quality of its portrayal of the Southern soldier and civilian through the research and study of literature and artifacts, thus presenting an authentic, educational and enjoyable experience for both the participant and spectator.  The regiment maintains the highest standards of safety, both on and off the field, thus ensuring the safety of its membership participants and spectators alike.
